This is how the GetAway is built
The GetAway is available in three versions: the Active, Sport, and Xcite, with an unladen weight of approximately 680, 725, and 745 kilograms respectively. Combined with a 1000 kg axle, the GetAway offers ample payload capacity for all your gear. This balance between low weight and generous payload is truly trendsetting in the segment of compact pop-top caravans. That performance is largely due to the smart way the GetAway is constructed.
While many manufacturers still use solid wooden panels, Easy Caravanning opts for lightweight sandwich panels in the furniture modules. These panels are not only significantly lighter but also much more rigid. The result is a solid interior that weighs surprisingly little.
The specially developed panel connectors are clearly visible here: they create a strong yet lightweight connection between the sandwich panels.
For the furniture tops and the tabletop, specially developed panels are used that are injected with polyurethane. During production, so-called inserts are integrated into these, allowing for easy and secure assembly. The result is a tabletop you can literally lift with just two fingers. The surface is finished with high-quality HPL material with an anti-fingerprint coating.
In the caravan industry, lightweight constructions like these are often more expensive than conventional wooden solutions, which is why they are still rarely used. However, the advantages far outweigh the costs: not only is the weight lower, but durability and overall quality are significantly improved as well.
In addition to the furniture, the floor and sidewalls of the GetAway are also constructed using an innovative method. Here too, we have managed to significantly reduce the overall weight.Unlike most caravans and motorhomes, the GetAway is built without using any wood in its structure. Instead, its sandwich panels are made from various high-grade foams with different densities. Some of these foams are so strong that screws can be fastened directly into them. In addition to their low weight, our sandwich panels offer several other advantages:
- Virtually no thermal bridges occur, unlike with traditional caravan walls built on wooden frames
- The walls and floor are highly resistant to moisture penetration
Smart solutions, down to the smallest detail
The exterior wall panels are made from an alternative aluminum cladding with a higher percentage of magnesium in the alloy. This makes the material not only stiffer but also lighter. Around the roof opening, open storage compartments have been integrated that close automatically when the pop-up roof is shut. The wardrobe door serves a dual function and can also be used to close off the toilet area if desired. The Sport and Xcite models are also equipped with smart mobility solutions. For example, the Sport has a Continental smart repair kit on board. And the Xcite comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels with run-flat tires. This allows you to continue driving calmly at speeds up to 80 kilometers per hour even with a flat tire. No more dragging a spare wheel or jack, which also saves weight.
